SOLDIERS ON LEAVE.
NO NOTICE OF EXTENSIONS
By Telegraph—Special Correspondent ' WELLINGTON, July 20. Cases of members of the Romioreemeiits returning from leave to Tren-t-bum only to be told that they were not wanted then and conic! return home wore mentioned by Mr G. W. Russell in the House to-dav. He asked the Minister for Defence whether ho would give instructions that men on leave and not required at the camp should be telegraphed to informing them that their leave had been extended. He referred to two -Christchurch cases which, lie said, occurred last week, The men returned to camp on the oxpirv of their leave and, apparently because the Department was not ready to receive them at the camp, they were told they could go back home. The Minister for Defence (the Hon. J. Allen) said that ho could not conceive that such could be the ease, for he knew of no such instance. lie promised to inquire into it if the names were given to him. Mr Russell: I can give y-o.ti many cases. Mr Wittv has a number of instances.
