UNCLE SAM’S PROTEST. STRONG REPLY TO GERMAN NOTE PREDICTED. NO MORE TIME FOR PARLEYING (Received Julv 20, 5.5 NEW "YORK, July 20. It Is expected: that the reply to the Gorman Note to-morrow will be sharp and to tlio point. The “Tribune” says America won’t tolerate more German evasion. The time for parleying, is past. The “New York Times” says another attack will force America, to seek redress finally. The newspapers agree that the German attempt to sink the Orduna was a gross and premeditated violation of American rights. No doubt if it had been successful America would have been faced with the most menacing and critical situation in her history.
AMERICA’S DETERMINED NOTE.
AN INTERESTING FORECAST. (Received Julv 20, 11.55 p.m.) NE WYOEK, July 20. President Wilson and Air Lansing aoroe that the. next communication to Germany, which will be sent on .Saturday, must make it clear that the United States cannot be impassive in the event of another attack on an unarmed and unresisting ship with Jogs of American lives.
The Note will point, out more emphatically than heretofore the earnest intention of the United States not to surrender any rights. America has also despatched a Note to Britain intimating that she will insist on all rights under the international law’ in the Brize Court ceedings.The Note is officially described as a TJ.S.A. caveat conserving the rights of American citizens, whose cases are about to bo heard in the British Prize Court.
