THE ALLEGED ATROCITIES
TTJIIKS BEING MUCH MALIGNED. AN INTERESTING VIEWPOINT.
SYDNEY, July 20. Captain. Bean, referring to the alleged atrocities, states that the Turk is rather a maligned person, who certainly does not compare with the Germans for frightfulness. At the same time the army may contain Kurds, Circassians, and other wild men responsible for anything. Once the dead body of a New Zealander was stripped and the clothes thrown up On the parapet of a trench which the Turks retook. There was no evidence whatever that the body was harmed in any way.
