GIANT NO-TIP HOTEL.
London has added to its landmarks during war time "the largest hotel in Europe.” This is the distinction claimed on behalf of the new Regent Palace Hotel—an enormous yet artis-tically-designed building behind the eastern side of Regent Street. Its aim is to supply at moderate prices the comfort and luxury of the "exclusive” hotels, and one of its mottoes is, "No tips, no extras; music all day.” It belongs to the same company as the Strand Palace. One of the most striking features is the Rotunda Court, which has an imposing glass dome and a brilliant color scheme.
The building consists of 11 storeys, and ix completely dwarfs everything else in the vicinity. It has accommodation for 1500 guests, and the recep-, tion hall and winter gardens are planned on a proportionately large scale.
