The High Commissioner’s market report dated London July 17, states: .Meat.—There was no material change in the market conditions during the last week. Mutton is in good demand, but prices are firm, owing to the short supply. Canterbury 7.',d per lb for best quality light weight-, North Island 7-Jd. for light weight, ewes 6 9-l Gd. Lamb. —A fair demand continues, especially for light- weight, even it the quality is poor. Canterbury two’s B}d ; heavy weight, moderate supply, S.',d; second grade, S ',d lor light -weight; other than Canterbury, B|d for light weight. Beef.— Prime New Zealand beef cannot be quoted. Chilled hindquarters SJd, forequarters 7Jd. lhitter. —The market is firm. Good qualities are in demand, but there is a- poor demand for inferior quality. Danish, veryslow on account of the high, price, 157 s to 100 s; Australian, very little offer-j ing, 188 s to 140 s; Irish, creamery, 1.40 s to 1445; Siberian, good demand for finest, 128 sto 1325; Argentine ,1.42 s to 1445. Cheese. —The markrt remains depressed. Prime have declined considerably. {Transactions in cheese are limited. Canadian, weak market, -78 s t-0 84s per ewt, English eheddar, quiet, 98s to 102 s; New Zealand, in moderate demand, white and colored 82s to 84s; Australian, dull, 78s to 82s, according to quality and size. Hops.-—The market is firm with an upward tendency. English, per ewt, 100 s to 120 s: Californian, 80s to 105 s. "Wheat. —The market is firm, owing to reports concerning unfavor- j able weather in America.. July to j August shipment, Canadian, 55s per | quarter; American 48s. Oats. —-The ! market is very quiet. Argentine, July to August, 24s 6d.
