July 19. _ A steamer has arrived with a lug consignment of American wheat, butter. cheese and fodder, and this has .somewhat relieved the famine in these commodities. Giving evidence before the Commodities Commission in favor oi an increase in the price ct oatmeal. Mr Scott- (manager for Parsons Brothers) stated that foreign oats showed 40 per centum more husk and waste and also 10 per ct-nturn more dust and rubbish than New Zealand oats.
