FRANCO-IRISH ENTENTE.

THE “COMMON CAUSE.”

A new Franc o-Irish. entente was sealed at tho Gare clu Nord station on April 29 when a group of influential Frenchmen met a delegation of Irish members of Parliament and others, 12 in all, headed by Mr T. P. O’Connor and Mr Devlin, who have come to present an Irish greeting to the French nation.

“The Irish people are at one with France in this war,” said Air 0 Connor! “In Ireland as in France we know no longer any divisions. The war has bridged many gaps there as it has here, and nothing has pleased me more than when I saw one member of the delegation who greeted us to-night place his hand on the shoulder of another meinoer and say affectionately, ‘He is a very good iellow, because I knew that it was the common cause of their nation and thcii country which had brought these two men of widely varying political v.ews so closely together.” After visiting the Chamber of Deputies, where the Irishmen found many friends, they drove to the Elysee Palace. ‘‘The President received us privately and with great cordiality, said Mi T. P. O’Connor. “His reply laid stress oil the blood ties between Poland and Frame.” From the President’s Palace the delegates drove to the Archbishop’s house on the other side of the Seine. The red-robed cardinal received them and made a charming reference to the tradition that St. Patrick was. horn in France.
