11 SOLDIER SONS.
To give 11 sons to the Empire’s eauso is surely a record sacrifice for any mother (states a writer in an Australian newspaper). Yet it has been cheerfully made by Mrs Learie, of Ross Street, Prospect, Adelaide. Three sons are already at the front, and the remainder are either in camp or serving with the naval and military forces in Australia.
Her only daughter, who resides in West Australia, lias qualified for the •ft. John Ambulance Association oadee, and at present is matron to (lie Boy Scout troops of Boulder City, West Australia. where she spends most of her spare time training the boys who-will be the men and soldiers of the future. ,
Just previous to the Adelaide “Herald” reporter’s entrance, Mrs Loane had received a telegram notiTying her that her “baby” Ben had been wounded in the lighting at the Dardanelles, but there was no wail of anguish and no note of despair. “1 know he’ll So* his duty,” was all she said. “I want my sons, but my. country wants them more.” . v
