HENRI FRENCH.

A BEAL LIVE COMEDIAN

Henri French, “the intoxicated genius,” kept another well-filled bouse deeply interested at His Majesty's Theatre last night. Many trick bicycle # riders and many jugglers of undoubted ability have come this way, but the dapper little Frenchman must lie placed m a class by himself. He is one of t-lio most versatile entertainers we have over had in New Zealand. There appears to be nothing fie can not do. He is a magician, a juggler, an illusionist, and a sleight of hand expert of the verv front rank. A.s a siffleur, he is simply wonderful. Tlis imitation of the notes different birds is remarkable for its fidelity to nature. His impersonations of great men, past and present, are likewise almost uncanny in their exactitude. His imitation of a young club man returning home at 2 o’clock, in the morning again had the audience in roars of laughter last night. This is tho turn which has won for him the title of tho “intoxicated genius.’’ Ho mixes up excellent juggling and. clever illusion with trick riding on large wheels and roller skating on small bicycle wheels, and he serves up the mixture in a dressing of very pleasing comedy. One of his mostsensational turns is his wonderful sharp-shooting at a human target. A fox terrier was in the east last nigdt-, and French brought down the house when he shot a clay pipe out of the clever little canine’s jaws. Henri : French will make his farewell appearance to-night, when an entirely new bill will he presented. A feature of the performance will he the competitions. Henri French, v.ill give «' prize of £3 3s to anyone ui the and*en.oe who can ride Ins bicycle wheels once round the stage, and a prize oi £1 Is to anyone who can keep on them while going on e straight across thp stage. Two local eoinpctitois have already entered, and their attempts to master th 6 eccentric n ?’-, skate half bicycle should iuvnis.ii .plenty of amusement. All who enjoy a high-class vaudeville show, possessing many startling turns, should not miss the opportunity of seeing this world-reiiowned entertainer.
