TRENTHAM SICKNESS.

NO DEFINITE DIAGNOSIS. ‘ ■ NOTHING ALA RATING. ’ ’ (By Telegraph— Special Cos-nspondeiu,) WELLINGTON. July 12. The Trentham mystery, as it lias been called, is still unsolved. The bacteriologists investigating it have not yet reported to the Minister, hut it is’undcrstood that up to date they have discovered nothing alarming. Only four fresh eases occurred at Trentham to-day, none of them serious, and no details wore reported from the hospitals. There have been no deaths since Thursday last. All the men who fell sick at Trentham to-day were men who had recently returned from leave. A curious, fact about the business is that the Sixth Reinforcements, who have been in camp longer than any of the other units, have suffered less from tlio epidemic and they are very unwilling to leave the place and go to the new camp. There were about 42 dascs of sickness amongst tlie Trentham (Earl of Liverpool’s Own) Regiment at Palmerston North to-day. There are about 27 sick men at Waikanae and Levin, and about 40 at Tauhorcnikau. There is one serious case, at Palmerston North, but the remainder ot the cases are of a mild nature. The sick men at Palmerston North are, for tho most part, affected by measles. The patients at the other centres are suffering chiefly from influenza and colds. Extra precautions have been taken against sickness amongst the men remaining at Trentham. Contact has been one of the troubles at. the camp, and four men have been put into a tent instead of ten, and 25 men into a hut. Only the new huts are being used.
