SHIFTING THE CAMP.
AN UNFORTUNATE 311811 AP. (Press Association Te’.esram.* PALMERSTON X.. Jr. y 11. The advance party of the Trntham Regimen; (Ear- of Liverpool’s Own) arrived at the new cam]) at Rangiotu. near Palmerston, about 3 a.in. on Saturday, in pouring rain—the heaviest experienced here for many years. It was decided not to detrain the men, who remained m the carriages, and were brought back to Palmerston at- 9 a.m. After tho men had been served with rations at the station they were sent to Awapuni. and made comfortable under the racecourse grandstand.
The rest of the men—about 1500 — arrived during the day, and were sent to the sheds on the A. and P. Showgrounds, the officers and probationary non-coms, being billeted at- hotels. Over 2000 are at present in town. It is expected that the men will g-> into camp first thing in the morning. The camp site is quite dry. though the surrounding districts are flooded- Tn» weather is* now fine, with every indication of it remaining so.
