NEW ZEALAND NATIONALRESERVE.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. . Alembers of the Gisborne branch of Hie New Zealand National Reserve paraded last night at the Garrison Hall, and were drafted into the different platoons. The parade was a big one, about one hundred and fifty men being present. Tito Officer Commanding (Alajor Whiteley) notified the men in regard to the parades in the future, pointing out that it would bo necessary for every man to do his utmost to become efficient, and by so doing the local Reserve would be tho equal of any in the Dominion. The men were then formed into a hollow square for the purpose of electing four lieutenants. There were seven nominations, the following being elected, in the order named: —Alessrs A. Zaehariah, G. B. Oman, C. A. Fenwick, and K. Cole. Alessrs J. C. E. Kissling and J. C. E. Turner acted as scrutineers. At the conclusion of the parade, those desiring to obtain non-commis-sioned officers’ rank remained behind and went through manoeuvres to prepare them for holding such rank.
