Briand, the French Premier, has pardoned the deserters from the Foreign Legion, who were recently court martfalled at Casablanca. [The deserters are Germany and their desertion nearly led to serious trouble between France and Germany.]
ARBITRATION COURT COSTS. MELBOURNE, July 31. The total cost to the employers and employes of the Government in contesting cases before the Federal Arbitration Court to date amounts to £36,491. MAORI SHEARERS. The Federal immigration officials have so far received no application for permission to introduce Maori contract shearers.
