INCREASE IN EXPORTS. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 4. Some interesting figures in regard, to the steady recovery in the volume of New Zealand’s exports were quoted by the Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister for Industries and Commerce,to a “Herald” interviewer on Saturday. I Ho said that for the first, five months of tho present year the total value of. the ex*ports. was £1,850,000 more than during the. corresponding months of 1908, whilst for the six months just ended, thq precise for which are not yet available, the increase oven the first half of 1908 was about. £2,000,000. In April and May of this year alone, the increase as compared with the same months of 1908 was about a nnlhon It--was only fair to sav, he added, that the first half of the. ’yeai- was the heavier lialf, but he regarded the. figures as must encouraging.
