The New Alpine mine manager reports for the week ending 29th June as follows:—Very little driving was done, as not sufficient air was available for the rock drill. On the north face a total distance of 124 ft and width of reef lift. On the south face 64ft and only boulders of stone in the face at present. In the stopes the reef measures as follows: No. 1 stope, 9ft; No. 2 stope, Bft; No. 3 stope, 9ft 6in; No. 4 stope, 4ft, and a new splice coming in but no foot wall, drilled 2ft into it this afternoon but no wall; No. 5 stope, sft; No. 6 stope, north 9ft, tapering to 2ft at the bottom of stope. We will underhand this bit underfoot as it should be cut in about 2ft of sinking. I intend to put in an intermediate to work this stone south of the middle winze, as it does not go down to the level. No. 7 stope north (hanging wall splices only), 6ft. No. 7 _ stope south, measuring on the horizontal 21ft. ’ I think, if it could be measured v i at right angles between the walls it yf would be from 12ft to 14ft in width. .A In stoping north in No. 7 stope, we 1 found about Bft of reef jumped right baek into the footwall, and I think, as we carry this stope along, we will find it continues north, where the reef is ; small, to Nos. 5 and 6 stopes. If so, this should give us a good body of milling stone here. The jauing in was complete and stoping started, in the south stopes again. Two hundred and fifteen tone were paddocked for the week, making the total tonnage to date 743 •’tons. Mr W. Lissant Clayton, sharebroker,, has in hand the flotation of the “Glamorgan Special Quartz Claim” as -a companv. The capital required is £lO,008. divided into 100,000 shares of a nominal value of 2s each, 3d payable on application and allotment. This choice but undeveloped property is situated in that highly argentiferous and auriferous belt of country midway between Tairua and Waihi, and the Goldwater, Silver Kii*' T and Herald reef traverse tho whole length of the property. The assays from the Thames School of Mines may be) inspected at Mr. Clayton’s office, where full particulars may be obtained. Thero is considerable interest in Maorilands, and it is thought that some of the Auckland people hive over-sold and therefore hope to “bear” the * market. Some 65,000 shares have <ronc to Wellington, and are being held tight there. Somo years ago tho mine produced a big lot of gold, and ] another good patch is looked for, f though developments are not suffeientw ]y forward to indicate whether the d_is- ' X N^i^rv' is important or. not, but a trial • crt 'hing goes through in a,few days. Wpstport-Stockton sellers arc at 6s 9d, arid Hartley and Rileys .at 21s 6d.
