A CARNEGIE LIBRARY.
OPENED- AT TIMARU. [Per Press Association.] TIMARU, June 4. The public library, erected at a cost of £3OOO, a grant from Mr Carnegie, was formally opened yesterday afternoon by the Mayor, so far as the reading room is' concerned. The library section is not yet ready. About 70 papers and magazines Avill be supplied for the library. All the books for the Mechanics’ Institute have been taken over, and the value of the institute, assessed at £ISOO, will be spent in neAV books. The rate amounts to £SOO a year.
