FRIDAY, JUNE 4. (Before Mr W. A. Barton, S.M.) LIQUOR CASES. On a charge of drunkenness a first offender was -fined 10s with costs 2s, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. Alfred James Weston pleaded guilty ‘to celebrating the Prince of Wales’ j Birthday by getting drunk, and there- \ by committing a breach of the prohibition order issued against him. He admitted three previous convictions for ; •drunkenness. His Worship said he ■had wiven the man many warnings and i would try a different course to that I adopted in the past. The accused would be committed to Pakatoa- Island if there was a vacancy, but in the t meantime would be remanded while enquiries were being made. If there was no vacancy he would bo sent to gaol. . BREACH OF A BY-LAW. v Alfred Cox admitted a charge of cycling in the Borough after dark with- | out carrying a light, and was ordered to pay a fine of 10s with costs 7s. ORMOND IMPOUNDING CASES. JUDGMENT DELIVERED. In the cases of Hugh J. Binnie (Mr. \Burnard) versus William Jones (Mr Coleman) claim for £2 damages and Gd driving fees, it being alleged : that the defendant illegally impounded 'informant’s cattle on May 4th. and sth. On tho first information judgment was given for the informant, and tho defendant Av-as fined 10s with costs j2 8s Bd..
On the second information defendant was also convicted and fined 10s Avith £1 1,5 s costs.
