— NEW ZEALAND GOLD EXPORT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 4. During last month New Zealand exported 46..525 ounces of gold, valued at £185,271, compared with 45,017 ’ounces, valued at' £179,487 last year. There was a decrease for the first five months on the present year of 15,485 ounces of gold, valued at £55,151, but an increase 90,049 ounces of silver, valued at £7300, compared with the figures of the corresponding period last year. A STABBING CASE. Peter Williamson Tait, charged with stabbing David McCall, was again remanded, McCall being still unable to appear. GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE: It is announced in to-night’s Gazette that the maximum amount for which one life may be insured with, the Government Insurance Department is raised from £4OOO to £SOOO. HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE. 1 NIELSON June 4. A ten-roomed house at Waimate West, owned and occupied by Alex. Drummond, was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. !Lho occupants had a narrow escape.
