SATURDAY, APRIL 3. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender, who had been lilterated on bail, did not appear, and the amount of his bail (£1) was estreated. Charles Ellis Davis was convicted and fined 10s and costs, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. ALLEGED WIFE DESERTION. Robert Andrew was brought up on a charge of having deserted his wife at Foxton.

On the application of Sergi . Hutton accused was remanded to appear at Foxton on 12th iust. Accused said he did not want bail. ■v THEFT OF BOOTS.

Robert Chappell, alias Robert Henry Chappell, was charged with having, on the previous day, stolen a pair of boots, valued at 14s 6d, the property of William Stewart.

Accused pleaded guilty, and His Worship decided to hear the evidence. John Norman, hotel porter, stated that about 1 p.m. on Friday he saw accused take a pair of boots from outside Mr. Stewart’s shop in Peel Street, put them under his coat, atul walk away into Gladstone Road.
