A resolution to prevent members or candidates of the Labor party from appearing on the same platform as members of the capitalist parties was negatived by a large majority, and led to stormy altercations between Messrs Ben Tillet and Quclcli on the one hand and Messrs Ramsay Macdonald, Shackleton, and Henderson on the other. The next conference was appointed to be held at Newport, in Monmouthshire.

SOCIALISTIC RESOLUTIONS. THE EDUCATION QUESTION. (Received Jan. 31, -LJ.S p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 30. Tho present conference at Portsmouth, by a small majority, resolved in favor of tho socialism of the means of production and distribution, and the complete emancipation of labor from the domination of capitalism rand 'landlordism. By a largo majority tho conference carried a resolution in favor of ’the abolition of the half-time system, of/raising the school age to 16, and of secular education. The conference by a large majority rejected a motion favoring the State maintenance of school children j but agreed to the necessity for tho medical inspection and the compulsory feeding of school children. # THE CONFERENCE & COLORED ALIENS. ' WHOLESALE DEPORTATIONS SUGGESTED. (Received Feb. 1, 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 31. The Labor Conference carried a resolution that all colored aliens should be deported in 1920.
