Mr. J. A. Mutheson, advance representative for the Florence Baines Co., left last evening for Palmerston North. Miss Baines and her company arrive in Gisborne on ’Wednesday. opening in “Miss Lancashire, Limited”’ the same evening. Captain Tombleson, of the East. Coast Mounted Rifles, intends, it is stated, to relinquish liis command at the end of February, the conclusion of the volunteer year. _ > Mr. George Coates, in advance or the Anderson Dramatic Company, arrived from South on Saturday to ma'ke arrangements for the production on the 10th pros, of "The Squatter’s. Daughter. ' A number of school teachers., who. have been away for the midsummer vacation, returned from South on Saturday. Mr. J. IV. Witty, secretary <jf the Harbor Board, left for Nopior by the s.s. Monowai yesterday. He is to return hero on Wednesday. Dr. and Mrs. A. E. iSykes arrived in Gisborne on Saturday from the south.
