SALARIES AND STAFFS.. The Education Department has prepared a series of tables from the schedules of the Education Act showing at <a glance the salaries,.grade and staffs in schools of different average attendances. The following extracts arc made therefrom: 9 to 15 Average Attendance. —Grade 1., sole teacher £9O to £l2O. 16-25.—Grade 11., sole teacher £l2O to £l5O. 26-35.—Grade 111., sole teacher £l5O to £IBO. 36-80. —Grade IV., head teacher £IBO to £210; assistant £9O to £l2O. 81-120. —Grade V.. head £2lO to £240; assistant £lO5 to £135. 121-160.—Grade VI. A., head £240 to £270; first assistant, £l2O to £L7 161-200.—-Grade VI., 8., head £240 to £270; first assistant, £l2O- to £150; second £l2O to £135. 201-250.—Grade VII. A., head £270 to £310; first assistant, £IBO to £210: second. £135 to £150; third. £lO5 io £135. 251-300.—Grade VII. 8., head £270 to £310; first -assistant, £IBO to £210; second, £135 to £150; third £lO5 to £135. 301-350—Grade VIII. A., head £3lO to £340; first assistant, £2lO to £240; second, £l5O to £180; third, £135 to £150; fourth, £l2O to £135. 351-400—Grade VIII. 8., head £3lO to £340; first assistant, £2lO to £240; second, £l5O to £180; third £135 to £150; fourth, £l2O to £135; fifth. £9O to £l4O. 401-450—Grade VIII. fifth, £l2O to £150; sixth, £l2O to £150; seventh, £9O to £l2O. 601-550. —Gitade X. A., head £370 to £290; second, £2lO to £240; third, £IBO to £210; fourth, £165 to £180; fifth. £l5O to £165; sixth, £l5O to £165; seventh, £l2O to £135; eighth, £l2O to £135; ninth £9O to £l2O. In every school grade X, there shall •be added tor .each succeeding, subgrade X.A. an assistant with a salary of £9O to £lO5, but in -all other -respects the staff and salaries in every such school shall he the s/ame as in a school, of subgrade X.A. A deduction of >lO -per cent, from the salary -payable in accordance with the foregoing provisions shall be made in the case of every uncertificated head or sole teacher and in the case of every uncertificated assistant; and a deduction of 5 per cent, on the case of every assistant or 'head or solo teacher who is the holder of a temporary certificate or license to teach; but no greater deduction small be made than is sufficient to reduce the salary to £9O. '
