ORDINARY AIEETING-. [Special to “Times.”] AYAIPIR.O BAY, Jan. 28. A meeting of the AA'aiapu County Council Avas held on AYednesday; present Messrs K. S. AA'illiams (chairman), S. AA'illiams. T. >E. ShenvootH: A. B. Williams, Knox. Cotterill, and 7 Murphy. Air. F. J. AA'illiams, AYaipare, Avroto requesting the Council to contribute towards the erection of a fence. The Chairman proposed —‘•That if the fence be erected on this side of the river, a- reasonable sum Avill be paid, otherwise the Council cannot contribute towards the erection.'’ The motion Avas seconded by Cr. - Sherwood and carried. In connection with, a letter front Messrs Chrisp and Coleman. the Chairman proposed —“That the engineer be directed to go into Air. Jonlistone’s account umd ascertain what is due to him.” The motion was seconded by Cr. A. B. AA’illiams and carried. An application avas received front Air. G. Richards for an auctioneer’s license. —It -was decided that tho application must be made in proper form, as required by -statute. Tho Engineer’s report av;is read and considered and the following pro w positous carried —Unit the necessary materials for the fence at Te Rapu be supplied by the Council. That £IOO Kami angm grant be spent in formation land metalling. That the • engineer be instructed to make inquiries respecting an overseer for the Alata bridge. That the engineer bo directed to lay off road to Tapuwaeroa. That the tax on.sporting dogs he increased to 10s per year. Tenders AA-ere considered in committee as follows:—Henderson’s road: o'Regan £350. Trumpet* £299 7s 6d (accepted). AYaitekulia reserve: Koran Hainga. £l6d (declined). Roto-kaut-uka : Murphy £ISI 3s 4d (accepted). Pakeakanui (metalling) : O’Regan £l3 10s per chain (accepted). Tangakaka bridge : Brown £l9B 10s (accepted), Leslie and Walworth £307 10s (declined). It Avas decided that manuka fascines be put in the river at the Alata crossing, and that surfaceman bo put on Hikuwai road at block cutting. SPECIAL ALERTING. A. special meeting was held to fix the day of the weekly half-holiday for shops. Cr. A. B. Williams proposed that Wednesday bo the day on which shops in this district close at 1 p.m. The motion was seconded by Cr. Alurphy and carried. The ordinary meeting was then resumed, and the Chairman proposed that a. special meeting be held on 24th February to deal with the special order re Mata bridge loan. Cr. T. S 3. Williams seconded tho motion, which was carried. 'Accounts Avere passed for payment amounting to about £9OO, and the meeting terminated. w '
