THIEF TAKES POSSESSION OF
A PARSONAGE

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 26. The Rev. ITarold PurcOias, of St. John’s parish, went '.away for a holiday after Christmas,. ' leaving the vicaflago in Latimer Square locked up. . About January 15th a burglar broke a pane of glass in a door and turned the key, taking possession of the vicarage. :He made liimself quite at home, sleeping in one of the beds, using the cooking utensils, and riefcing generally ,as if'ilie were the tenant. When‘ho left tlio burglar took a quantity of wearing apparel, a large clock, and about £2O worthof miscellaneous jewellery and sundries. On Saturday . evening Detectives Ward and Gibson had their ..attention drawn to a man in clerical attire, and they at once-arrested him, and charged"him with tlio burglary. Accused appeared at the Magistrate's Court, and was remanded till Frkray.
