the Railway Department, and (all they could do was to take what was left, on the western side. In view of the magnitude of tho work and the large amount of -material, he a considered the Board should not be restricted to any particular portion of the quarry, but should have a free hand to take stone where it was most suitable for the work. It was most important both sides should be operated on at the same time, and tho thought there should be no difficulty in making such arrangements with the local bodies concerned. The Chairman said that if it was found necessary to work on both sides of the stream, lie had no doubt satisfactory arrangements could be made to do so/' About 50 acres would be required, and the site should be extended to well over the kill. The -Board decided to instruct Mr. G. Gmnt to survey a site for a quarry on the western side of the stream, right up to the falls, and that after the survey was ready tojacquirc the site under tho Public "Works Act. Afr .Lysnar. expressed the view that the Board should go out to Waihirere land inspect the proposed site. The Overseer said that if it happened" that tho Board was restricted to quarrying on one side of the creek a 'big strip of land should be taken on the western side. The Chairman moved that Mr. Grant be empowered to survey the whole of the hill up to the falls, and tho motion was carried. The renorts were then adopted, -and the Board adjourned.
