MURIWAI MAORI RACING CLUB.
The following nominations have been received for the above Club’s annual meeting, to be held- on January 2nd, 1909: Cup.—Arawa, Bill, Matiti, Spike Island, Snider, A zona, .Kaitoa, Wil : son, Togo Kaikuri, Huria, Maori Jack, Glenrose, Te Rangi.Pai. Flying Handicap.—Te Moi, Arawa, •Bill, Jack, Matiti, -Spike 'lsland. Sni : der, Kaitoa, 'Cake Walk, Te Rangi Pai, Wilson, Togo, Kaikuri, Huria, Maori Jack, Traitor, /Glenrose. Takitimu .Stakes. —Te Moi, Arawa, Jack, Azona, Kaitoa, Cake Walk, Te Rangi Pai, Happy Jack, Huria. Weights will be declared on Tuesday, 29th December, 1908, at 9 -a.-m. Acceptances close on 30th December,, -at 9 -a.m. Stakes will be -paid in full on the night of the races.
TE KAiRAKA RACING CLUB. The annual meeting of the Te Karaka Racing Club will be held on New Year’s Day and gives promise of being very successful. The Club has been to considerable expense in improving and making additions to their course, which, prettily bordered on three sides by the river and shaded by willow trees, is admirably sit-
uated for a day’s outing. The track fisin first-olass order and the .acceptances are the largest received in the history of the club. Special train arrangements have been made and, visitors from town will arrive there ;in time to see the first race. The imembers of the Club are .ardent believers in clean sport, and at a meeting of the committee the other evening it was decided that .on the day of the races four stewards be posted bound the track at intervals to report on any foul ‘riding or unsatisfactory running. This is an innovation that will meet with the appreciation of lovers of the turf. WBATATUTU RACING CLUB. It is expected that .a capital day’s sport will be afforded by the annual fleeting of the Whatatutu Racing Club, which is to take place on Boxing Day. The'acceptances .are so numerous ias to constitute' a record, for the Club, and some very good racing is anticipated. Several improvements have been made in the arrangements for the meeting, and the officials and committee are determined to dp their utmost to secure a successful gatherW NGAWABI MAORI RACING CLUB. Very satisfactory acceptances have been received for the meeting of the Ngawari Maori Racing Club to be held on-Monday next. Alii the- horses handicapped have accepted, and it is anticipated that a very pleasant day’s racing will be provided.
