A strong movement, backed by the lrjtrchants’ guilds, is- boycotting German goods and institutions at Kaiocliau. Shipments of Chinese imports from Shanghai to Tsingtu have almost ceased. [The port of Kaio-chau and a. portion of territory around it, in the Shantung Province, form a German protectorate, having been ceded to Germany by China in 1898 on a 99 years’ lease.]
