It is understood that, after a brief spell, Arnst and his pacemaker, Fogwell, will make a cycling tour of the Dqminion. Fogwell has been troubled- slightly with rheumatics during the last three months, and it is his intention to try a course of baths at Rotorua, whither' he will be -accompanied by Arnst. Beer and philanthropliy evidently go hand in hand in the no-licenso district of Mataura, judging from the following advertisement appearing in one of the Gore journals:—"Horse cover lost between Mandcvillc and Gore. Reward, two gallons of beer or donation to Hospital, on returning same to—” It.AV. Bro. McCullough, D.G.M., of the Scottish Constitution of Free kind Accepted Masons, was a passenger from Auckland iby the AVimmera. Last night he conducted the installation of lß.ro. Tiros. EcMory as R.AV.AI. .of Lodge [Montrose, No. 722,* and the investiture of his officers. In this function Bro. McCullough was assisted by R.W. Bro. AY. Caron, D.G.S., and other Grand Lodge officers. AY. ißro. A. G. tßeere, P.M., lacted as -(director of ceremonies, and Bro. Jas. iClirisp as musical director, and there was a large gathering of members of the Lodge and visiting* brethren. After the ceremony a banquet was held in tiny, .refectory. Air. J‘. Erskirie catered in very satisfactory flishion, and the qustomarv toasts were honored. Songs were sung by Bros. H. DeCosta, Barlow, Hutton, R. Jolujstone, AY. F. Crawford, Elder, and Allen. A vioilin solo was given by ißro. Cutlvbert, Bro. Sidebottom presided at the pianoforte, and Bro. Hookey at the organ.
