VERDICT AGAINST UNION COMPANY.

AUCKLAND, Dec. 16
The rehearing of the action by the Northern Coal Co. against the Union Steamship Co. for £1946 damages, respecting the sinking of the ketch Moonali by collision with the defendant company’s steamer Wairuna on the night of March 10th last, was con-, eluded ye,sterday. The jury returned a unanimous verdict for plaintiff, costs being awarded for the second trial on the highest scale. The Judge deferred his decision ill regard to an application for costs for the first trial, at which the jury disagreed. Later.
Judge Edwards tins morning awarded the costs of both trials, with the full amount claimed against the Union Steamship Company.
