AMERICAN CUSTOMS TARIFF.

VIEWS OF MANUFACTURERS.

FREE WOOL AND HIDES

FAVORED

United Press Association, Copyright

NEW YORK, Dec. 14.

American newspaper enquiries among manuf ateture rs relative 'to the reform of the tariff indicate that woollen clothing manufacturers do not object to free wool, but are unwilling to allow a customer too large a reduction on manufactured goods, as a set-off. against the reduced price of wool. Boot and shoe manufacturers favor a repeal of the-duty on hides and a reduction of the duty on leather, but wish to retain the present tariff on boots and shoes.
