THE WALLABIES DEFEATED. United Press Association, Copyright (Received December 14, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13. The Wallabies’ match (against Wales was played at Cardiff in the presence of 30,000 people. Wales won by a •penalty goat and two tries to the Wallabies’ two tries. The game was strenuous and exciting, the Welsh outsiders proving cleverer in their attacks. Wales scored first, but missed an easy place kick, Prentice headed a passing rush, enabling Richards to score between the posts.—Carfn ioliael failed to convert. After the interval Wales secured a try, but gradually the Wallabies’ pack gained ascendency, •until offside play resulted in Wales securing a- penalty goal. The Wallabies brilliantly attacked again and again, and in the last ten minutes threatened to pull the game out of the fire. Prentice enabled Russell to score, Carmichael again failing to convert. THE LEAGUERS—A DRAWN GAME. The Australian League team played •a drawn game against the Northern Union, the scores being: Northern Union, two goals six tries (22 points). Leaguers five goals four tries (22 points). Play was very fast in the first half. Messenger placed a penalty goal. England scored two -unconverted tides, then Devereux obtained a try, Messenger failed at goal. England added two more triers, one converted, and avere leading at half-time by 14 points to 5. In the second half England quickly added an unconvorted try; then Devereux and Butler scored tries, Messenger converting both. Then England got another unconverted try. Devereux followed with a fine try, avhicli Messenger eonarertcd, equalising the scores. Messenger next placed a penalty goal, and England followed by placing a penalty goaf in the last minute.
