PRESBYTERY OF WELLINGTON. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON. Dec. 8. ' The Rev. Dr. Gibb has been elected Moderator of the V ellington Presbytery. AUCKLAND RAILWAY YARDS. The Cabinet lias authorised an expenditure of £2300 on the Auckland railway station yards. AUCKLAND POST OFFICE —TENDERS TOO HIGH. Tenders for the erection of the Auckland post office have been considered bv the Cabinet. They varied, from £124,000 to £189.000, and as they were all very much above the official estimates they were all declined. The plans are to be modified and fresh tenders called. FATALITIES. AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. George McCausland, not Caslin, was the name of the man who died at the hospital yesterday afternoon as the result of falling from a cart. WHANGAREI. Dec. 8. Edward Roley. aged 25, employed by lledley and Wright, was drowned in the Waiotu river at Taupiln while rafting logs. The police and deceased’s mates are searching for the body. A COUNTY ELECTION PETITION. NAPIER,? Dec. 8. Tlu; Magistrate reserved judgment hi the Meanee County election petition. The position lias been narrow ed down to the question of validity or otherwise of two votes, of which each candidate secured one.
PEILDING AS A-STOCK CENTRE FEILDING, Dec. S.
The Feilding Chamber of Commerce last night set up a committee of business men to advertise the advantages of the district as a stock centre. The president. Air. Tolley, in proposing the committee, pointed out that with the opening of the Arain Trunk line Feilding must make an effort to retain its position as the chief stock centre of the North Island, the rates obtained for stock here being looked on as the ruling rites for the North Ida lid.
A WELL-KNOWN AIUSICIAN ILL. WELLINGTON, Lee. S. Air. Ailfred Hill, the well-known musician, has been seriously ill for the last few days from anaemia. An operation was necessary, and he is now progressing favorably, hut lie is in a verv low state.
A RACEHORSE KILLED. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec 8. While having an exercise gallop with Grand Slam to-day, iho racehorse St. Joe fell and broke pis shoulder, and had to be destroyed.
