The Professorial Board has nominated Mr. Hector Mac-Lean, iM.A., us tho Otago University’s candidate as Rhodes scholar for the current year. He took first-class honors in mental science. Professor Gilray leplacos Professor Beniham on the Phoclcs scholarship selection committee.

,A meeting of the professorial board of the Auckland University was held ■afternoon for tlie purpose of selecting this year’s Auckland, candidate for the Rhodes scholarship, "’here was only one applicant, Mr. V. G. Aldridge, whom the board decided to select. The Auckland vepres/iutative for the Rhodes honors is the sixth tu.d the youngost son of Mr. George Aidridge, of AucklUnd, who has been for 25 years pastor- of tho Church of Christ iat Newton. The aoung student was born in Auckland, and has not yet .attained his majority. lie has gflined his 8.C., and has the c.istinction of being tho first to lin.in one year 'three senior •, molar ships sinco.. the present, regulations came into force h\' 1883.
