United Press Association. Copyright
MELBOURNE, Dec. 7. The granting of a dissolution created surprise. Mr. Murray declared that it was an unprecedented step and should only bo taken when there was no chance of a stable Government being formed. * The Leader of the Labor Party said it seemed an extraordinary procedure, giving Sir Thomas Bent two chances. Sir Thomas Bent, in a speech at Bendigo, said that it was true he lmd been defeated by his friends’ intriguing going on. He was not going to take it lying down. Overtures had been made to him to go to the Labor party, carry the Land "Valuation Bill, and break up bis own party. He replied, <: Go to you know where.” He was not very polished on sucli occasions. _ The proper thing to do was to ask the people for their verdict.
