THE WEATHER
The heavy clouds tllit gathered_ in the south-west yesterday mormug broke soon after midday, and steady rain fell during the .afternoon and last night. The ram will prove a «reat boon to farmers, for the pastures (have been looking very dry after two weeks’ hot weather, and the rape that has been sown to provide fattening feed for lambs should uou come on. Gardens and orchards will also benefit greatly. The rain seems to bo fairly general all over the Dominion, and reports of downfalls have come from Jlokianga, Manukau, Auckland, Thames, Waikato, New Plymouth, Eginont, Wanganui, Dune din, and Balclutha. -
