GISBORNE CLUB.

WELCOME TO MR. W. MILLER

The large social hall of the. C<i> borne club was filled to overflowing last evening, when a welcome home was tendered to Mr. W. Miller on his return from an extended trip abroad. Mr. C. Hellier Evans, Chairman of the committee of- the club, presided, and. after the toast of “The King”' had been loyally honored, proposed the health of the guest of the evening, making special reference to the credit which was due to Air. Miller for ilieexcellent position the club bad attained. The toast was enthusiastically drunk with musical honors. Mr Miller, on rising to respond, was greeted with prolonged applause. He heartily thanked his friends for their kind welcome, and gave an interesting account of his trip round the world.

Hon. J. Carroll proposed the toast of “The Gisborne Club,” which was honored and responded to by Mr. C. Hellier Evans. The toast of "The Visitors” was proposed by Dr.- J. Clive Collins, and responded to by Messrs A. Betluuie (Government auditor) «nd E. Meßurncy (Union Steamship Company). The Gisborne Club orchestra contributed .selections during the evening, and songs were sung by Messrs Hutton, L. Johnston Brown. A. Zachuriah and the Hon. J. Carroll. Mr. H. A. Kalin played t.i violin solo.
