AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S VISIT POSTPONED.

WELLINGTON, Dec. 3. At tho meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening, a letter was received from Sydjiey stating that an Australian team could not be sent to New Zealand in 1909, and suggesting that such visit be postponed tiill 1910. This was agreed to.

LONDON, Dee. 2. Midlands and East Midlands (2 goals 1 try) defeated the Wallabies (1 goal). The match Swinton versus the League team was not played owing to the fog.

LONDON, Dec. 3. The game was fast and even. In tho first half--the Midlanders scored an 'unconverted try. In the second half the Midilanders, by strong attacks, scored two tries, both of which were converted, ftdtlecl a penalty
goal. Burges scored a try’ for the Wallabies, and Carmichael converted.
