CHIUSTOHURCH, Kog. 19

The first wool sale of the season was held to-day. There was a large •attendance, including representatives of the local woollen mills, and Home, Continental, and American firms. The wool brought forward was entirety from farmers on the plains and peninsula. The large stations were not represented. The wool was not in such good condition ns nt till© first sale last year-; being well-grown but somewhat dirty on account of the strong winds in the early spring. Competition was very brisk, buyers evidently holding large orders.,Compared with the Wellington sales, prices ivere about £d per lb better. Very few lots passed at the s a - e , which, considering the condition or the wool, is a satisfactory one. A total of 4931 bales was offered. FROZEN MEAT.
