GRAZING RUNS.
[To toe Editor.] Sir, —You are a supporter of fair play. Mr Carroll stated that a renewal of lease of Mr F. Hall’s run was granted at an advanced rental. The puhCic are anxious to know how much per acre the increase is, the past rental being small. If Mr Carroll will speak out. boldly he will bo better appreciated before polling day. I would like to know Gso how an any partners are in this run, whether active or sleeping. The clerical errors are very strange which Mr Carroll .stated the Minister could not he responsible for, when he has sole control. Pity the Government don’t keep faith with their tenants. I might say that they had promised long ago to give the land which is now being settled on and owned by the Crown, the free right of purchase: but it is ill nonsense for them crying out like that. Thev have no intention of doin gso ; if they had, that right should have been granted long ago, instead of giving the Opposition a strong plank to work on. 1 believe is coming, but not by this tardy Government. \Yo may expect nothing but loud monopoly and interference. Let us vivo the Opposition a chance and see how they will rectify matters. —I am, etc., “PROGRESS.”
