PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

[Pbess Association.]

DUNEDIN, Nov. 11. The Presbyterian General Assembly opened last night. There was a large attendance of delegates. The incoming Moderator (Rev. J. Chisholm, of Roslyn) delivered an address. The Rev. Mr Chisholm took as his subject “Back to the Home,” and in the course of his address dealt with tile necessity for parental control, and for carrying on Christian work amongst the young. Ho said prominence had been given in •assemblies to schemes for winning children, while the home was overlooked, whereas the Church's energy should be devoted to directing a new revival of the family party and home training. They lifted the burden of responsibility from parents by professing to do for children in Sunday school or Bible class wlrat could be done only in the home. If the Church could capture the •homes subsequent victories would be easily won.
