THE GISBORNE SEAT.
MR. CLAYTON AT AVAERENG A-A- ---' HIKA.
Mr. AV. Lissant Clayton addressed •a. largely attended meeting of electors in the Sclioolhouse at Waerenga-a-hika last evening. Mr. A. J. Cameron occupied tli© chair, and Mr. Clayton delivered a forceful address on the lines of his,speeches already reported. Towards the end of the speech tho meeting, became very enthusiastic, though ’the candidate was occasionally subjected to interjections. At the conclusion of the address, however, one of the ihtcrjectors, Mr. Davis, moved that a vote of thanks be tendered to Mr. ClaytoiUfor liis address, and in doing so expressed his satisfaction with what tlie candidate had said. Mr. Trafford seconded tho motion, which was carried unanimously.
Mr. W. Lissant Clayton, tho Opposition candidate, will address tho electors at Matawliero to-night, in His Majesty’s Theatre on Friday, and at Patutahi on Saturday.' Mr. G. E. Darton will address the electors in His Majesty’s Theatre tonight, when he will reply to the statements made by the Hon. J. Carroll in his address. Mr. J. Townley will take the chair. Mr. Darton will speak at Muriwai to-morrow, at Matawhero on Thursday, at Patutahi on Friday, at Makauri on Saturday, and at the Garrison Hail on Monday next. There was a large attendance in ■the Mangapapa Schoolroom last night when! Mr. G. E. Darton addressed the electors. Mr. M. McLeod occupied tho chair, and the candidate, who spoke for an hour and a half on the same lines as when he spoke in the theatre, had a most attentive hearing, and was frequently applauded. A few questions were answered byMr. Darton at the close of liis address, and a vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting. THE BAY OF PLENTY SEAT. Mr. J. B.
