[Press Association.]
WELLINGTON, Nov. 9
The New Zealand training ship Amokura arrived at an anchorage in the stream early this morning after an absence of fifteen days. .She set out on the 25th October for the Chatham Islands, whence came a report that smoke had been seen issuing from an islet known as the “Fortyfours,” and it was considered that there might bo a maroOned party there, perhaps belonging to the (missing Loch Lomond. The Amokura reached her destination on the following Thursday, and made a five days’ stay. The islands were searched, but lio wreckage was seen. When in the vicinity of the “Forty-fours” various signals were made, but without response. During the fortnight’s cruise the Amakoura has weathered many a storm, and her crew of young sailors have at lpst found their sea legs. Altogether they enjoyed their trip.
