TUCKER WILL ADDRESS THE COUNTY . ELECTORS at: ORMOND HALL— TUESDAY, 10th, at 8 p.m. GISBORNE RIDING. TO THE ELECTORS. Ladies and gentlemen,— At the request of a number of Ratepayers, I offer any services to you as your ltepr* sea (alive an the County Coimcil. Oai account of the enormous iaicreaso in rates, which has in some cases trebled during the last two or three years:. the present Council having raised the rate from tlireefarthings to virtually three halfpence, and the valuation of property having been increased within the last tlareo ears from 20 and in some easos up i> 75 per’cent, the rate has gone up a what I consider’a small rent. And do not think it necessary to raise iich a largo rate to keep the roads nd drains in this riding in sufficient opair, as I think with judicious and areful expenditure the rates could e considerably reduced. I must say : returned I will try to do justice to 11 part’s of the riding. Yours sincerely, C. J. PARKER.
