The motion for an order of attachment against Sir T. O. O'Brien, cabled on 24th was heard at Dublin. Sir T. C. O’Brien explained that lie had made the statement attributed to him believing that the jury was being canvassed against him. Ho now expressed his -sincere -regrets for the improper action he had been guilty of, and affirmed l that he did not intend to influence the juror who complained of his conduct. The respondent was fined £3OO and ordered to pay the costs of the* present case and of the previous abortive trial. j[The cable message of July 24th stated that an action at Cork Assizes, Hon. Alexis Roche v. Sir Timothy O’Brien, for slander, was abruptly, terminated, a jurym&jj declaring that O’Brien through a third party had attempted to influence his decision.
