KING’S BIRTHDAY.
HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS
The birthday* of H.M. King Edward VII will be loyally observed ill Gisborne to-day. The day i s to be a general holiday, and several pleasurable functions have been arranged. One of the chief of these is the picnic organised by the old settlers, to be held in the Pat-utahi Domain. A general invitation is extended to all friends, those attending bringing their own hampers. Hot water and milk will be provided. The Federal Band will be in attendance. A good programme of sports has been arranged for the day, including events for boys and girls, old and young men, and old and young women. The lion, secretary ,i s Mr. M. Hall.
The Salvation Army will hold a picnic in Mrs. Cooper's paddock, at TYaimii beach, where many attractions are to be offered.
Tho children of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Sunday School are to hold t-lieir annual picnic up the TYaiinata. The Rifle Association will have their annual shooting meeting on the Makauri range.
Lawn tennis will be played 011 the Gisborne and Wliataupoko courts. A cricket match, Married v. Single, will take place on Victoria Domain.
Bowling is to be carried on all day on the greens of the Gisborne-, and Turanganui Clubs. In tho evening there is to be a social at the Garrison Hall in aid of the Maternity Home, and also a social gathering in connection with Wesley .Church.
