Rakaia, s.s., in the Bay
The U.S.S. ■ Co.’s Manuka arrived from South early on Saturday morning, ami sailed for AucLf.und and Sydney during the forenoon. The scow Alert left for Ngunguru on Saturday afternoon, and the Kia Ora also sailed for Auckland. The U.S.S. Co.’s Monowai arrived from Auckland yesterday morning, and sailed South in the evening. The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall arrived from Tologa Bay and Auckland yesterday afternoon with a large general cargo. She also brought 170 IVes of wool from Tologa for transhipment to the N.Z. Steamship Co.’s Rakaia, which w'as to arrive from Auckland early this morning. The Squall returns to Auckland to-mor-row night. The schooner Awanui left Auckland on Wednesday mighfi fog 'Port / nui and Tuparoa with a full cargo of timber for Messrs Evans, Niehl and Co., on behalf of the Education Department. On discharge she proceeds to Mercury Bay to load for Gisborne.
The U.S.S. Co.’s Flora, which has been bar-bound at Westport, is expected to arrive here about Friday, •when she wil’d make a- special trip to the Coast ports to load wool for transhipment to the s.s. Niwaru. The Canterbury Shipping Co.’s Ripple is expected to leave Oamaru for Gisborne on the 16th inst. The auxiliary schooner Kaeo arrived from Coast ports and Auckland on Saturday afternoon after a good trip. Captain Skinner reports as follows: Left Auckland on Monday, October 26, and arrived at Omaio the following day. Worked t\vo ports that day, four on Wednesday, and the same number next day, all in the Bay of Plenty, at which altogether 40 tons were (landed. Arrived at To Araroa Thursday night, and on Friday landed 10 tons of cargo and shipped 70 bales of wool. Camo on to Port Awanui same afternoon, but owing to a southerly gale came on to .Tuparoa. Worked there Saturday morning - and went hick to Port Awanui, and landed about 25 tons finishing nil ‘Sunday morning at 8 o’clock. A heavy gale then came up and we ran back round' East Cape. Monday took in another 30 bales wool at To Araroa and came on to Wai- . piro on Tuesday, where 30 tons cargo were .landed. Wednesday and Thursday worked Tokomaru," landing 50 tons and shipping 200 bales wool. On Friday came on to Tologa Bay, where cargo .was (landed and 40 bales wool and 10 pigs were shipped, and leaving there at 3 o’clock on (S iturday morning arrived at ■“’Gisborne that alternoo.ii, working Pakarae on ■ the way down.
