STOCK SALES
The New Zealand Loau and Alereantiie Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows on the stock sale held on Thursday, November sth. The attendance was smaller than usual, owing no doubt to the incidence of shearing. The demand was slack in all departments, and the sale conkl not be considered a satisfactory one. Sheep.—Our yarding comprised 2959, about half being hoggets, the balance ewes and lambs. Hoggets sold at about recent quotations, but there was practically no demand for ewes and lambs. The day’s prices were as follows: Aged ewes with smal percentage of (lambs 9s to 10s, better lines with well-grown -lambs 14s 3d, dry ewes (culls) 6s, in forward condition 9s 6d to 10s 3d, fat ewe® (light weights) 10s to 11s, fat lambs 10s, hoggets (small and broken woolled) 7s 6d, medium lines 9s 6d to 10s 7d, well-grown and in good condition 11s to 11s lOd, whilst a pen of really prime hoggets /made 14s Sd, shorn 2tootli mixed: sexes 7s 3d.
Pigs.—Were well competed for. Our entry comprised 20, which realised for weaners 11s to 11s 6d, slips 16s, -porkers 30s. » Cattle.—-The demand for beef was fairJy active. Out sales comprise d beef cows (light weights) £4 to -£4 ss, well-finished cows £5 15s, steers £6 7s 6d to £7 12s 6d, according to weight and, condition. For store cattle the demand was very limited. Of an entry of 316 wo only succeeded in placing 88 at following prices: Alixed calves 25s to 30s, yearling steers 365, 18-month heifers £2 Is to £2 7s 6d, springing heifers £5 7s 6d, grown bullocks £5, Shorthorn bull £B.
