THE GISBORNE SEAT.
The Hon. J. Carroll will address the electors at Nuhalcn to-night, at Wairoa to-morrow, at Mohaka on Monday, at Frasqrtown on Tuesday, and at Tiniroto and Hangaroa on Wednesday.
Mr. W. Lissant Clayton, who is standing in the Opposition interest for the Gisborne scat, will address the electors iat Waerenga-adiika on Monday, at Matawliero on Friday next, and at Patutahi on, Saturday next. The chair will ho taken at 8 p.m.' on each occasion.
- WAIROA, Nov. 5. Mr. Clayton addressed a large meeting at Mobaka on Wednesday. His criticisms were well received, and he secured an unanimous vote of thanks. Great interest is being taken in the meeting liero to-night. Mr. Darton addressed a splendid meeting here last night. Public interest was principally centred 'on the native land question and closer settlement.

ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION AT WAIROA.

WAIROA, Nov. 5
Mr. W. Lissant Clayton addressed a very larger audience in His Majesty’s Theatre to-night. A large number of ladies were present. Mr. Britnell, chairman of the Town Board, presided. Mr. Clayton had a splendid hearing, and the audience listened with deej) interest to the candidate, who said he had no need of an excuse for offering himself, because there was a revulsion of feeling in the constituency. He spoke of the good feeling shown by the candidates towards each other, dealt exhaustively with the grazing runs question, and made a scathing indictment of the native land policy. He advocated the freehold and the optional lease, criticised the 1905 Land Bill, and said that the question of native lands was of the utmost importance to the Dominion. Other subjects were dealt with, and the address throughout was punctuated with applause. A vote of thanks was accorded to the candidate, Mr. Clayton having expressed himself unwilling to accept a vote of confidence. THE BAY OF PLENTY SEAT. Mr. J. B. Gow, Opposition candidate, will address the electors at Mills’ station, at noon to-day, at Ihungia this evening, at Waipiro Bay to-morrow, at Tuparoa on Monday, and Port Awanui on Tuesday. Mr. J. B. Gow, who is standing as an Opposition candidate for the Bay of Plenty seat, addressed the electors at Tokomaru last evening. There was a large audience, including a number of ladies. The candidate was well received, and at the conclusion of his address was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks. EG MONT NOMINATIONS. ELTHAM, Nov. 5. Messrs Bradshaw and Dive (Opposition) and George Percy Wake (Government) have so far been nominated for Egmont. KEEN CONTEST IN WESTLAND. HOKITIKA, Nov. 5. ■ Mr. T. E. Y. Seddon was nominated to-day for the Westland constituency. Feeling over election matters is running very high all through the district, ancl the contest promises to be the keenest ever fought in the history of tlio constituency.
