AVEDNE&DAY, NOVEMBER 4. (Before Air AV-. A. Barton, S.AJ.) DRUNKENNESS. John Allan, 'for a fourth conviction within six months, was sentenced to two months hard labor in Napier gaol. Thomas AtuUins, dfias Walter Bennett, who, was said to'Tiave a had Record, was convicted and fined £1 with 2s' costs, or 4 days’ imprisonment. PROCURING LIQUOR. For procuring liquor while under prohibition John Allan was convicted and fined £5 with 2s costs or six weeks imprisonment, the sentence to run concurrently-with that for drunkenness. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Thomas Alullins, alias AVulter Bennett, was convicted of the above offence and was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment with hard labor. THEFTS AT TE ARAI. The three native youths, Hati Nepiu, Hirini Aparaina, and AA T i Patene, who pleaded guilty last week to charges of theft of maize and other articles at Te Arai, were brought up for sentence. The two first named were further charged with committing theft on October 26, at Te. Arai, of one water trough, value 30s, the- property of Eric Craig. Mr J. It. Kirk appeared for accused, who pleaded guilty, and asked for probation. His AVorship said that he had read the Probation Officer’s report, but had decided not to admit the accused to probation, nor yet would he send them to prison. Accused were fined £7 with oosts.
AVi Patene was convicted and fined £2 with 10s 6d costs in connection with -the -theft of half a sack of maize, the property of R. Preston, Te Aral.
