NO-LICENSE M R - W. D. L YSNAB WILL DELIVER AN ADDRESS GAINST IVT O-LICENSE, H IS M N At AJESTY’S On T HEATRE I DAY, NOVEMBER gTH No-License Supporters are cordially Invited. Meeting starts at 8 o’clock. MR. LYSNAR will deliver addresses on the same subject at country centres on dates which will be notified later. TO THE RATEPAYERS OF WAIMATA RIDING. COOK COUNTY. Ladies and gentlemen,— At the request of a number of Ratepayers, I have decided to offer my services for Waiiinata Riding at the County Election on the 11th inst. I am opposed to the present method of the Council in gradually increasing the rates without any improvements to our roads, and willsupport any change of administration which will decrease the rates and increase the benefit to our roads, and with this object I favor proposals for a consistent system of borrowing being placed before the Ratepayers for their consideration for new roads, and taking advantage of the new legislation by which the Government will guarantee the loan and pay half of it back by a yearly contribution towards the sinking fund. Previously the County rate was ffd ; then it was last, year raised to Id in the £, and this year it is lid general and l-9th of a penny for Hispital and Charitable Aid, which is practically lid, instead of Id as last year, which is nearly 50 per cent increase, and with our increased valuation it will make our rating extremely heavy, and I am satisfied ways and means can bo found to reduce this rate, and at tho samo time increasing the amount for expenditure on our roads. I am, etc., J. C. FIELD. COOK COUNTY COUNCIL. ELECTION. AT the request of a number of County Ratepayers, Cr. W. D.
